It could be something to do with the impedance in the aircraft and or headset circuit. A clever person once explained it to me as he had built a little in line box to correct it but I neither have the memory or ability to add to my comments.

Some airlines make pilots get prior approval before using their own headsets as some headsets and aircraft type combination suffer from the problem.
