Most European hub airports have a big transit business sand do not need a passenger to actually enter their country if they are in immediate transit and duly ticketed, ie they stay airside . If the flights are both LH then ask them , they are responsible for ensuring documents etc are in order. Travel to Europe is a different matter where a UK passport would seem now to have the same value as one from Mali (no dispresct to anyone from there ) .
