When using the airport recently (departing 22nd October, arriving 31st October. Sat 1 was closed to passengers on both occasions with signs in place at the transit station at sat 1 saying not to get off. I thought it was a bit odd that it was shut off to passengers rather than sat 2 and there was no sign of any building work going on. Haven’t heard of any reason why, apart from the obvious lack of demand for all 3 of the satellites.
Sat 2 offers more flexibility in regards to inbound/outbound domestic/international splits, can be walked to via domestics if required (so TTS could be turned off if required) also then allows for cargo aircraft to park on the Alphas next to sat 1 as well.
