Allen L. Thanks for the link. Now to settle down for a good read. I first saw PNG in 1953 from 15,000 ft overflying in a Lincoln bomber of the RAAF No. 10 Squadron en route Townsville to Momote. The airstrip at Momote was 5200 ft long in those days and with no takeoff performance charts it was a case of crossing fingers and hope to reach flying speed before the end. There were several Douglas Dauntless dive bombers in various states of decay still around the edge of the airstrip. Last trip to Momote for me was 1976 in VH-CAT the F27 of the DCA Flying Unit on navaid calibration. A lot of memories in between.
