I'm sure in the big scheme of things it wouldn't have hurt to wait for good weather, so as to be able to do the parallel take-off and a much better optic to catch this moment in aviation history.
While the parallel departure didn't happen because of the weather, ATC and the crews did well to get them both rotating less than a minute apart.
Incidentally SZE is Semera in Ethiopia - I hope they were prepared for the arrival.
