It is a strange move, to be made still in the middle of a full blown crisis. All three could have kept it at any amount. They always relied on attrition numbers, and now there just isn't.
Do they know something we don't? Did they calculate to lower the costs to the max, and now they realized they can't afford to lose anyone in the medium term? Is it a image clean up with the remaining staff?
I mean, wouldn't it be just beautiful if they actually found out of a high likelihood of a vaccine or a really fast/accurate test to be ready, and they may have to recall everyone soon? And they know whoever could, would opt for any other airline instead? I would.
