The R4360 has four rows of seven cylinders, the R2800 on the original Corsair which I assume powered the original version, has two rows of nine, so a slimmer package on the more powerful engine seems likely. The R4360 and R2800 would have been similar in overall diameter - reducing the number of cylinders/row would make little difference and the cylinder heads were different.
Secondly, I think you may be confusing the abbreviation DaveReidUK used for the aeroplane (Vought 326) with the US terminology for the engines (e.g. V1710).
