It’s not as bad as you might think. Roundtrip flight at £40k cost against £15k or so for going to the usual place near Lisbon. When an Embraer C Check can easily cost £350-400k, the extra £25k of ferry costs could comfortably be outgunned by a modest saving in the check itself. Acid test will be whether it happens again after this first one.
Would an FAA ADS-B mandate exception inside the USA have cost anything considerable extra?
