As mentioned above, I recall the tech reps stating they removed the strake due to increased T/R authority and the use of a different upper fin on the B3. There had been a few cracking issues of the T/boom skin at the strake mount areas also which supposedly pushed Eurocopter/Airbus wanted to remove the strake. Ironically BLR has come out with a Fast Fin mod for the H125/AS350 that puts a strake back on the T/boom plus some fancy cowling and vortex generators. It's even offered as a factory option I believe.
