1. They didn't get "somehow stopped", they realized that firing all is technically unfeasible. But make no mistake, all tech crew will be on a new contract shortly. Just semantics here.
2. All airlines will eventually get rid of as many pilots as they can when one-man or no-man cockpits become certified. It's not for tomorrow, but to single out EK on this is naive.
3. There is no management anywhere on earth that would take any responsibility for employees in the absence of a law or a union forcing them. Joining an airline in a country where the govt is lawmaker and owner of the airline and where both prohibit unions, makes any complaint in layoffs futile.
It's a tough world out there.
