Unfortunately not one airline has really tried to do the right thing in this crisis. Emirates has and will always handle things terribly because they’re, well, in a place where they are free to do what they want. The UAE is built on the labour of expendable expats.... whether you get driven to work in a nice car, or in the back of a bus everyone is the same when it comes to workers rights. To think otherwise is foolish.

the only thing that has saved a similar bloodbath at other airlines are the rigid seniority driven processes and strong union presence, built up over years. Do you really think Joyce at QF, Spohr at LH or Walsh at IAG would have any issues tossing people out like Emirates if they weren’t being watched? Walsh and Joyce have previously employed questionable tactics to lower the cost base (firing the entire CC workforce and rehiring on inferior terms)

the warnings on here and on the Middle East are clear to all. Not everyone likes the long succession and rigid progression plan of a major airline in the real world. Pointless to winge about the Middle East now that it’s all gone pear shaped.... if it wasn’t already long ago.
