well I agreee to disagree on the price tag you give,
as half the lessors of EK airplanes are local Habibi connections there are by far better deals on the table than any other airline has in this world
secondly if any airline in the world parks the planes outsourced somewhere, it will have a huge price tag on the parking fees to be paid - they have to get a maintance in place, because even longterm storage does not come without costs
EK gets half of that for free - I am in a very doubt that parking an air Plan in DWC costs them anything
maybe on the paper but not really
considering the fact of 68000 employees at the beginning of the year means that 2/3 of the EK employees are office staff - in other words 1 flight crew has min 2 watch dogs in the office - there is a lot of room to safe. That’s not anywhere near of running slim.
it is very difficult to compare EK with normal airline as they get a huge amount of benefits from their local family ties - tax free, in many areas well under payed (compared to the rest) . Think about the savings in layover costs alone per day how much money that is, which is now contributing the daily survival of the company (normally out of 3000 flights a week, at least 2500 end in a hotel)
and again the numbers on the table are from the mentioned report are by far different to those of any airline in the world, suggesting there is more than enough room for different solutions then the one has been chosen - and of course it does not come for free - but on one end the manager has to agree that his personal profit will suffer as well as all employees suffer from such events - but there is the problem locals don’t give up their profit to share the damage. And as people around here have no empathy for others, nor do they have any respect to their responsibility. they act as they do - no open communication, not the slightest attempt to find a solution together, no option of returns to old rank or seniority, etc

with the published results - EK had lot of problems raising before Covid, If they can’t manage to survive with that balance sheet now
