Routinely millions of hours are flown without any requirement of human creativity. But the discussion will carry on.
One of my areas of research is neural networks, and the other is on a team with computer vision--very technical, and advanced stuff. We are very excited about the results and they are indispensable in ML and aviation systems over time. The technology has revolutionized biochemistry and molecular biology as well. Still, time and again we see errors in the systems and true limitations compared to humans.
