Appendix 3 to FCL applies here. An integrated ATPL(A) course must include Advanced UPRT training before the course can be completed, although CPL and IR tests may be taken before that UPRT training has been completed, since that and the MCC (also a mandatory part of the course) are the final elements. A modular CPL course does not require Advanced UPRT. A-UPRT is therefore required for licence issue when an integrated course is undertaken, since the course has not been completed until all elements are complete. Covid-19 has been punitive for a lot of students, especially those on integrated courses who just needed UPRT and MCC to complete their courses, having already done CPL and IR flight tests, potentially (in a few cases) with single pilot IFR jobs waiting!
