If in doubt, listen to the CVR tape and accompanying visual depiction of the Evergreen freighter into KL; or the details of the Delta Tristar into the swamp. A lifetime in and around aviation encompassed more than enough involvement with the outcomes of piloting 'skills' to view any potential improvements with interest and cautious enthusiasm. Both humans and computers are limited - using the best features of each would seem, to me to be a sensible compromise.
