@RAFBrizeNorton This afternoon, our C-17 aircraft will be operating in the vicinity of Edinburgh, Newcastle and Birmingham, whilst engaged in essential training.
We got a nice view (x3) of this as it passed our (home) office window in Solihull at about 3000ft.

It does make me wonder what is going on onboard these flights, i.e. what specific training? Practicing ILS approaches? Practicing CATIII landings in simulated bad weather/darkness? Practice for the ATC? Taking advantage of the empty runways (definitely)? All of the above? Also how much of the flights e.g. the multiple tough and gos are planned in advance, vs being made up on the fly to test the pilots?

I dont suppose we'll get one, being military and all, but an onboard video would be fab!
