We're talking about our feelings of national identity, and if I find that understatement is part of being British, and brashness isn't, then the tail does not strike me as appropriate.
The fact that I am old enough to prefer cheat lines to swirls, and to think that the 1960s RAF-TC livery was one of the best ever, is a different question altogether, IMO.
