Precisely! I'd have thought an even safer design would be one where the nut on the control shaft isn't fixed but can rotate on its own bearing.
I believe this would be the safest configuration, because my question is if there was enough force and heat at play to weld the washer to the nut and snap the locking pin when the control shaft started to rotate as not designed is that not
significant force to cause just as bad damage on a left-handed thread configuration if the same fault occurred?
