If you want to be an FI then make sure you aren't just doing it because you can't fly an airliner for the time being. If you give off that vibe, you will not get the job. Instructing will not be a throwaway job as some have treated it, so belt in for 3-4 years of doing circuits and long hours. As for internships and any support towards being an FI, in most cases it will be non existent now, schools have been hit bad, some have gone bust and in the UK we can't even provide any lessons now due to government restrictions, so it will be down to you to work hard and get your skills. It really is a dark picture folks and I've been worried for my job at a flight training provider that has been in business 50+ years.
