Precisely. With any self-funded programme, whether it's affiliated to an airline or just an untagged "white tail" course, the training risk is entirely on the applicant. You screw it up and don't get a licence in the end? You pay for that. You lose your medical? You pay for that. The airline is not in a position to hire you after you obtain your licence? You pay for that. Whatever goes wrong, it will be you in hot waters and them safe and sound. And the ATO will be a certain beneficiary from all this since they need people training in order to survive. If said people get jobs in the end - fab, they will make good advertising material for the school. If not - fine, they will likely still be paying said school for their rating revalidations every now and again.

So, all sorts of training programmes will become available a lot sooner than entry-level jobs will (and probably even sooner than ANY jobs will). Whether it's worth the gamble while the outlook for the entire industry is still fairly unclear - it's your call.
