On the contrary some countries only count deaths in hospital of those confirmed by testing. Others, including the UK, include all those where it is suggested on the death certificate. I suspect that in the US, where reports come from individual states, the data vary in accuracy,.
I think that the test results are more accurate and comparable than the death data.
