Which is the reason the UK dare not suggest masks for the public - just not enough to go round............
HM Govt has followed the advice from WHO and our own SAGE team with their advice that is to only to wear a correct type of PPE mask when you are treating/caring for patients who are or maybe sick with Covid-19
And to wear a mask if you are sick, or have symptoms (but you should be at home anyway)

Wearing a home made or incorrect mask gives little or no protection from asymptomatic Covid-19 sufferers who are out and about in public and can spread the virus.
If you can blow out a lit match through your mask then it is NO good at all either in stopping spreading, or by protecting you.

If the HM Govt does change it's policy then frankly only the correct PPE mask worn will save folk from the risk of asymptomatic Covid-19 sufferers passing on more infections.
Thus the Stay at Home mantra.

Scotland has gone ahead and done its own mask thing which in a 4 country devolved Union may pose some consternation.

And No, if 60 million UK population suddenly need correct PPE mask then where will we get those in a hurry - impossible
