At the risk of opening a can of wriggly things. There were a lot of plans for VE day, and some will still go ahead, perhaps via video. However, as far as I know, the government had no plans whatsoever to celebrate the end of WWII. Perhaps Gen. Slim's "forgotten army" are still forgotten.
