Tough for most

I went through 2 full-on redundancies due to external circumstances . One company "bankruptcy", (private airline, the owner lied), one following 9/11, bmi (again private, the owner had a reputation as a greed monger and an enthusiastic supporter of organisations such as the boy scouts), Many of us pilots and cabin crew were laid off. I believe the present situation is far worse. The avaricious and self-obsessed travelling public will not congregate and travel as if the war is now over; Covid-19 is a contagious and nasty virus. It may hang around, it may re-appear strongly after apparently dissipating. The airline business will shrink dramatically. Many pilots will lose their careers permanently. New jobs will re-appear on low pay scales. Passenger fares will be high. It will be back to the 60's. The aviation market will shrink by up to 75%.

And I take no pleasure in writing that. It is my personal forecast, and I sincerely hope it is wrong.
