I'm pretty sure the cartoon was never meant to be drawn to scale. You are correct that it appears that the plane went under the wing from the video, but the angle can be misleading. However, the crew reported that the cirrus went under the wing. I'm almost positive that the tug driver alerted them to the fact. He/she would've had the best vantage point.
