Once you have pinned it to the taskbar you can start the apps with the Windows Key + a digit.
[Windows Key] 1 starts the left most one etc.

I had never heard of this before but the query somehow made me look it up - and there it was.
If the app is already open, the action opens its window and holding the windows key and repeatedly pressing the number cycles round the instances of the app.
Seems very handy. Handy enough that I may un-hide the taskbar, maybe move it to the side.
There is more on that page. You can create custom shortcuts too. That sounds better, easy to remember.
