Not necessarily the case - current Mt Isa Senior Base Pilot spent 20 yrs in QF & Air Vanuatu, then a 12 mth break from flying before commencing with RFDS in YBMA.
A good mate went from CX A330 Capt. to PC12 with RFDS in Derby. After a short stint in the bush, became head of C&T for West Ops at Jandakot.
Maybe Central & Sth Eastern sections are different? Best of luck to all - I might be following you!
