The average airfares on the new routes are going to be much higher than average airfares Flybe offered. If Flybe couldn't make it work on those lower fares - why does Loganair believe it can with pretty much identical capacity???
I assume that they will charge more and if people won't pay then they will lose the service. There's plenty of evidence out there to show that Flybe were charging much lower than the train despite being significantly quicker and therefore, in theory, should have been commanding a premium. Low cost model pricing will not work in a regional airline environment. It has to be related to sustainable cost/margin principles.
