Unfortunately illiteracy (in it's widest sense) is, apparently, widespread these days. It is neither confined to our industry, nor just to the (mis-)use of apostrophe's (Ooops!). I have some difficulty even understanding some of the letters I receive from organisations such as banks. They simply do not speak the same language as I do; in fact it can only really be described as 'pidgin.'
I guess it is just a reflection of the modern, 'does it matter if the little darling can spell, just as long as he / she is allowed the freedom to express him / herself, and is not constrained by convention,' attitude in our educational establishments these days.
