I think that's exactly what the reports I've said refer to - he is/was the first pilot with HIV to be granted an initial medical cert. However, there seem to be few current pilots flying in EASA-land with HIV.
Good for him - a battle fought, and won, to achieve his aims. Everyone who's spoken about this has been 100% supportive, which is the way it should be, but encouraging all the same.
