Wouldn't some pre-owned but well looked after AD capable (only) Typhoons fit the bill? Provide some cost recovery for the Home nation to fund some latest-spec Typhoons to replace them......
With respect to the Typhoon, which I understand do very well at Red Flag and other exercises, why not get new build F-16s with aesa radar, APG-83, and 30K+ thrust. Other than being twin engine, I’m not aware of much advantage coming from the Typhoon. I’m not saying anything bad about the Typhoon, but why buy used when there is an option to buy new very, very economically?
