I don’t know what you think you saw in the Nimrod R1, but it had the system I described in my previous post. My fault I didn’t make it clear. Carousel was standard fit through the late 60s and 70s for aircraft such as 747. It was fitted in Concorde and also in RAF VC10s and Sentry.

it was a very good system. I believe a single unit was used for FI. Units were also borrowed for the famous pics of Nimrod MR2 meeting up with the boats at the pole.
