That they were even having that discussion (prior to, and at the time) should tell the trained mind something - namely that in those final moments their "spidey-sense" was telling them something was not right...

if they had the visibility required they should have been able to see it. If you can’t see it you’re either completely lost or the visibility isn’t what you think it is.

All very factual, so why couldn't they see at 12500ft mountain that was only 27nm away - either left OR right? Surely thats not a response to the above quote Compressor? It's certainly no excuse....
