No doubt they're all protected species - or there'd be howls of animal rights outrage...
The carrier seems to attract a wide variety of birds, including at least 1 Peregrine Falcon.
That predator's presence would normally be enough to ensure other birds give the area a wide berth. However, it seems the ship is treated as the 'local patch' by its resident birds, who presumably find enough to eat along the deck..
I wonder whether better hygiene in terms of food wastes etc would be helpful in lessening the appeal of these ships to possibly hazardous avifauna.
