Many Japanese Captains leaving for China. Failure rate on JCAB sim and line checks for foreigners over 50%
There is no relaxation of JCAB requirements for foreigners.
The Peach CEO is talking through his ass.
To put a little perspective on things, yes salaries are a little behind other carriers in Japan.
If one or two captains moving to Chinese carriers is “many” then correct. 50% failure rate is a little bit of an exaggeration. Yes there are failures and yes at a higher rate that many other countries, however I would say the rate of failures between Japanese and expat pilots is about the same.
I dont think regulatory change is whats needed to make the process of joining a Japanese airline smoother. A change of philosophy, instructional technique and decision making regarding training and assessment is whats needed.
