Two comments, if I may.
Tim Clark is an absolutely unique man. In just 20 years he's managed to put Emirates in a position where manufacturers develop aircraft models and variants exclusively or almost exclusively for it. And the moment he got into that position he immediately destroyed that trust with both manufacturers by his eratic Airbus orders and giving Boeing false hopes about 777-8. Some people just don't know when it's time to retire.
As for Boeing 737MAX, the only reason it still has orders is the fully booked A320neo assembly lines. As soon as Airbus opens the two additional lines, we'll see MAX's orders plummet like a lead zeppelin. If even Southwest say they are "considering other types", others can't be far behind.
