I seem to remember from a dim and distant conversation that the a340 had a hard cycles life. Once you hit that its game over. I believe It was because it was the first airbus designed using cad/cam. But I may be wrong.

I would expect with modern design principles aircraft aren't hard lifed anymore but can be extended depending on insoections and replacement of lifed parts.

again I’ve been led to believe that the TCX 330’s were some of the oldest in the world and airbus had put sensing equipment on them to see how the aircraft was performing to help extend other airbus aircraft.
