Previous experience is preferred but not required, I just came out from my ATO and they accepted my application. So Cadet is only for ab initio.
I see your point, but if you look at the application criteria for direct entry, it says previous Multi Crew experience or 500hr+, hence its called Direct Entry Recruitment
