TNO,

Not many people (if any) that weren't there at the time do know about it, both Boeing and Ansett went to a lot of trouble to keep it quiet.

You probably know that the Aircraft were built inside the factory, then towed outside to the flight line for engine installation etc ( as were all B767s).

We came in to the flight line one morning and VH-RME was surrounded by all sorts of security people, someone had done a lot of damage to it, including slashing many seats and also severing many of the wiring looms on the Aircraft.

Never found out before we left Seattle whether or not they caught the culprit, believed to be a disgruntled Boeing employee.

It did NOT delay the Aircraft at all, because all the Ansett Aircraft had to go back through the factory to have the F/Es equipment fitted, so Boeing fixed up all the damage then, but it happened, trust me.........

Best regards,

lame.
