Τhere is very very little available place to arrange liquids electronics and stuff before security. Usually the first available space is just before the machine.
As I said, I prepare as much as possible. Some don't prepare at all (such as removing coats, jackets and belts). Precious seconds can be lost and when it's busy that soon adds up.
