There must be 100’s of Aussies who otherwise would have been competing for regional airline jobs here in Australia in America now. I can’t imagine the affect it’s going to have over the short to medium term for these businesses. Combine this with CASA’s strangle hold on the industry, the future isn’t looking up for most regional airlines at home.
I guess you can’t really blame us, it’s a pretty great opportunity that the yanks are offering to accelerate our careers to a point that would probably take you 3-4 times as long if you stayed in Oz. It will be interesting to see how it pans out and if the Oz regional carriers/industry have the foresight to see where things are heading, wouldn’t hold my breath on that though...
