Well sleuthed, dook. Evelyn Sharp Field (KODX) in Ord, Nebraska.
Evelyn Sharp was a local lass who died in a P38 take-off crash in Pennsylvania. She was the USA's first female airmail pilot. She was the youngest American woman to hold a commercial pilot's license. By the age of 20, she was one of only ten female flight instructors in the United States.
There was some apparent but unsubstantiated controversy surrounding the crash which killed her. She had landed the day before for an overnight stop; the aircraft had been perfectly serviceable then. The engine failure happened on the first flight next day. Some suspected that foul play
may have been part of it, but there was no investigation, no evidence.
