I tried the bose with the active turned off and to be honest did not see any diference between that and the cheap school headsets. Granted it is not as good as a really solid passive only headset. But I guess that where you win over the others as the headset weighs virtually nothing. It also shows you the status of the battery and the LED flashed red/green for several hours to show the battery needs replacing then flashes RED for another FIVE hours after that. Pretty hard to have it go flat if you do your "preflight" checks!
The new cable and battery box takes 2xaa batteries and last 80-100 hrs with intellisense that powers the headset down automatically as well.
