Of course, it was the Martin Baker Meteors! I only glimpsed them from behind for a very few seconds and for some reason I thought MB only had one Meteor, hence I went astray with my ID of them.
Checked the website, nice pictures of the two of them - one black, one red trim. Beautiful machines still going strong!
