I can't post the screen shots for some reason but if you roll the Google earth date back to 2004 at La Tontouta there does appear to be a disused runway on the SW side alongside the Route de la Base Aero Navale.
If you then take an oblique view of this disused runway looking SW the terrain beyond the 'runway' does seem to match Dook's photo.
