Sorry Dook, I know it's done and dusted now but - for what it's worth - I'm still not convinced.
As Jenkins states, it's hard to imagine room for a cross runway at La Tontouta, particular considering the steeply rising terrain a mere1.5 nm from the field (why build a cross runway facing this?). I flew into there often in the 1980's, when the surrounding area was not as developed. Also, the terrain off the runway end doesn't seem to match.
A bit more research, a likely candidate, a much more active US base with cross runaways and terrain that matches is Plaine Des Gaiacs. See
