A few points.
Marital status does not matter to the Legion, they accept single, married or divorced recruits.
The ability to speak/understand French is not a requirement but recruits need to grasp the core of the language quickly. The NCOs have a knack of getting recruits to respond rapidly to instructions in a manner that defies language barriers.
