Jim-I've seen numerous EVA crews leaving a certain Newark hotel late at night for the long trip back to Taipei. Their pilots appear to be of various nationalities.
How do you like China Airlines? Are you flying the same type of 747 as you flew at United? I'm curious how long pilots can fly for any airline based in Taiwan. By the way, several years ago one of our pilots said that from his former FO job at EVA he had "their" 744 type rating. He claimed that the FAA office in LA would not allow him (a US native) to convert it to the US rating, but an Aussie was allowed to!
