Ron Houghton's Hurricane Endorsement
Ron told me this story some time back, and I hope to do it credit with my ailing memory.
Ron was a Halifax pilot during WW2, and spotted a visiting Hurricane parked near the tower. He found the pilot and asked if he could have a look so they both jumped up on a wing and Ron was given the rundown of how to take off and land. He thanked the pilot who then asked if he wanted to fly it! Ron duly grabbed the opportunity and soon took off. Checking his take off time through habit, he realised that he had only begun his "endorsement," 20 minutes earlier!
Unfortunately not told with the style of Centaurus, but a great story anyway.
It is a great privilege to know Ron.
