I thought the schedule was designed around the ATCO availability after last year's problems. Early starts and late finishes will require more staff all round - airport, crew and ATC - so it might actually be easier to add more flights within the current opening hours profile with a second aircraft than to extend the day, particularly with aircraft that have low capital costs.
